WILSON, N.C. – The Barton College women's team is still looking for its first win in Conference Carolinas play following a 6-3 loss to visiting Belmont Abbey College on Saturday afternoon at the Barton Tennis Complex.
Barton's Smiljana Kljajic and Vanessa Sanoja teamed together for an 8-2 win over Belmont Abbey's Tegan McNamara and Lillie Mehan in No1 doubles competition. The Crusaders earned identical 8-1 victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to lead 2-1 early on.
Sanoja also won her No. 2 singles matchup with Kiersten Cox 6-2, 6-1 for the first win of her young collegiate career. Junior Dana Kelly secured her third straight win of the season with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles as Belmont Abbey took the final four points of the match.
Barton travels to Shaw University for a non-conference match on Friday, March 4 in their next contest.
