WILSON, N.C. – The Barton College men's volleyball teams secured its sixth consecutive Conference Carolinas win with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 15-19) decision over Lees-McRae College on Saturday morning in Wilson Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs (9-3, 6-2 CC) hit .333 as a team, while Lees-McRae (0-11, 0-9) turned in a .165 hitting performance in the match.
Lees-McRae led 21-20 late in the first set after Hector Serviat kill but BC used a 5-1 run to take the set following a kill from freshman Vasilis Mandilaris.
Barton never trailed in the second set, cruising to a 25-14 victory. Lees-McRae held and early 8-7 lead in the third set but junior Jonathan Novoa-Miralles buried back-to-back kills to give Barton a one-point lead midway through the frame. The Bulldogs never trailed again as consecutive kills from junior Michael Perez ended the match in Barton's favor.
Mandilaris led BC with 11 kills and just two errors in 18 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage over two sets of action. Senior Pierre Tang-Taye registered five kills, followed by a four-kill performance from Perez.
Novoa-Miralles, Aleksa Brkovic, Brandon Lee and Michael Tyler each finished the match with three kills. Junior Federico Pagliara and freshman Christian Reyes dished out 18 and 10 assists, respectively, while freshman Kekaulike Alameda led all players with 10 digs.
Barton hosts non-conference opponent Alderson Broaddus University in their next match on Saturday, February 27 in Wilson at 2 p.m.
