MISENHEIMER, N.C. – For the second straight season, the Barton men's soccer team was eliminated from the Conference Carolinas Tournament following a loss to Pfeiffer University. The nationally-ranked No. 14 Falcons earned a 7-1 win over the Bulldogs to advance to the semifinals.
Barton (5-12-1) fell victim to a potent Pfeiffer (16-2) offense for the second time this season as the Falcons left Wilson with a 5-0 win on Oct. 12.
Pfeiffer all but sealed the victory in the first half of play behind six goals, including a hat trick from reigning Player of the Year Nathan Regis. The senior opened the scoring with a goal in just the 4th minute of play, followed by another goal in the 28th minute and penalty kick in the 33rd minute after a Barton handball inside the box.
Senior Austin Tausch scored his team-leading fifth goal of the year with 6.6 seconds remaining in the first half to put Barton on the scoreboard as a goal in the 52nd minute was Pfeiffer's final score of the game.
The Falcons held a 26-9 advantage in total shots and a 16-3 edge in shots on goal as Bulldog keeper Jens Madsen Hordvik recorded nine saves in the contest.
