WILSON, N.C. – The Barton College women's tennis team lost just five total games on the day in rolling to a 9-0 sweep of Emmanuel College Saturday at the Barton Tennis Complex.
Senior Meredith Pruden, who will not be able to compete in next weekend's home finale, was honored early with a ceremony before the match, then closed out her last home appearance by posting shutouts over her opponents at both No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles.
Junior Lorraine Chon-Qui, Pruden's partner in doubles, also won her singles match, 6-0, 6-0. Junior Smiljana Kljajic and senior Alicia Lasry each won their contests 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively.
Kljajic and Lasry won the only other contested doubles match, 8-3. Emmanuel had just four players and was forced to forfeit points at No. 5 and No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles.
With the win, the Lady Bulldogs improved to 6-3 in Conference Carolinas and 7-9 overall. The Lions remained winless at 0-17 overall and 0-10 in league play.
Barton will visit University of Mount Olive on Tuesday for an important showdown with the rival Trojans (12-4, 8-2).
