WILSON, N.C. – Barton College won all seven matches contested Tuesday at the Barton Tennis Complex in its non-conference match with visiting William Peace University.
Both of the points for the Pacers came on defaults by the Lady Bulldogs, which played short-handed once more.
The victory snapped a three-match losing skid for Barton, now 4-7. William Peace dropped to 2-10 on the year with the loss.
The only match that went three sets was claimed by Barton freshman Casey Utley over WPU's Sierra Wyse. Utley won the first set 6-1 and Wyse claimed the second frame 6-4 before Utley took the tiebreaker in a super-set, 10-3.
The Lady Bulldogs dropped just one total game in the remaining six matches. Dana Kelly won for the sixth time in her last seven matches while playing at No. 4 singles, and Smiljana Kljajic improved to 6-2 in her last eight starts at the No. 1 singles position.
Barton will return to Conference Carolinas action this weekend, visiting Southern Wesleyan University on Friday and North Greenville University on Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs are 3-1 in league play and fifth in the standings.
