Mount Olive nets 7-2 win against Lady Bulldogs

 

WILSON, N.C.-Barton College had its three-match winning streak snapped as the Lady Bulldogs fell to Mount Olive College 7-2 in Conference Carolinas women's tennis Tuesday at the Barton Tennis Complex.

Barton fell to 7-6 overall and 3-2 in conference play. Mount Olive, which extended its winning streak to eight, improved to 12-2 overall and 4-1 in the conference.

After getting swept in doubles play, the Bulldogs got on the scoreboard as sophomore Mika Deane won 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. Sophomore Caroline Fischer won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 singles, but the Trojans won the remaining four singles matches to seal the team win.

Fischer evened her singles record to 5-5 on the season.

Barton travels to Division I East Carolina Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., then hosts Queens Saturday at 1 p.m. in a Conference Carolinas match.
