Deane tabbed Player of the Week again!

HIGH POINT, N.C.-For the second straight week Barton College freshman Mika Deane has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women's tennis Player of the Week during week number eight in the 2011 season.

The freshman extended her singles win streak to eight straight matches after winning a pair of road Conference Carolinas tilts in the top position in the lineup.

Deane started the week with a 7-6 (2), 6-4 straight set victory over a talented player from Shaw University on Tuesday.

Deane's most impressive win of her rookie season came on Friday at Queens University of Charlotte, knocking off No. 15 Southeast Region ranked Elena Milena in a three-set marathon (6-3, 3-6, 13-11).

Deane capped her week by not losing a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win at Belmont Abbey College on Saturday.

The Auckland, New Zealand, product boasts a 10-6 overall singles record playing in the No. 1 flight. This is the second week this year Deane has received this award, repeating the honor from last week. Barton currently stands at 8-9 overall and 4-4 in the conference.
