Trojans top Lady Bulldogs in league quarterfinals

SUMTER, S.C.-No. 3 seed Mount Olive College knocked No. 6 Barton College out of the 2011 Conference Carolinas Women's Tennis Tournament hosted by Erskine College with a 5-0 win Friday afternoon at the Palmetto Tennis Center.

A sweep in doubles play and victories in the third and fifth singles flights improved the Trojans overall record to 15-6. Mount Olive will next play second seeded Queens University of Charlotte in the semifinals on Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs end 2011 with an 8-11 overall record, one more than the year before.

The other singles matches were stopped after MOC reached its fifth team point to advance.
