WILSON, N.C.-Junior Lindsay Toth (Sewickly, Pa.) and freshman Carol Fischer (Socorro, Brazil) never lost a game – both paired together in doubles and in singles play – to highlight a 7-2 Conference Carolinas women's tennis victory for host Barton College over Limestone College on Saturday morning.
Freshman Mika Deane (Auckland, New Zealand) and senior Jaime Galasso (Winston-Salem, N.C.) also won in straight sets for the Lady Bulldogs, who improved to 6-8 overall and 3-3 in the conference.
Senior Eve Aubry (Boucherville, Canada) contributed to both Saints points but Limestone still suffered its fourth straight loss exiting at 1-16 and 1-5. Aubry teamed up with Jimena Munoz Quiroga (La Candelaria, Mexico) for an 8-1 win in the top doubles showdown before winning her No. 2 singles match 6-0, 6-0.
The Lady Bulldogs took a 2-1 advantage after doubles with an 8-0 win by Toth-Fischer and a forfeit victory in the third flight.
Deane recorded her fifth consecutive win with a 6-2, 6-4 victory in the marquee singles draw. Toth posted her 6-0, 6-0 sweep in the third slot in the order while Fischer duplicated that score in the fifth position. Galasso tallied her win at No. 4 by matching 6-2 set scores.
Galasso (7-4), Deane (7-6) and Fischer (7-6) all have seven singles victories for Barton.
Sophomore Francesca Del Pozo (Lima, Peru) was credited with a forfeit win in the final singles contest.
Barton hosts non-conference Shaw University in a rescheduled match on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
