INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Barton College's
Aniya Heckstall has qualified to compete in the 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championship as the association revealed its selections earlier today.
Heckstall, a junior from Scotland Neck, N.C., will compete in the women's 100-meter dash. The track and field finals will take place this year from Thursday, May 22, through Saturday, May 24, at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl in Pueblo, Colo.
Heckstall, who holds the school record in the event (11.49 seconds), is the first Bulldog student-athlete to compete in the outdoor track and field championships since
Larry Russell in the men's long jump in 2018 and the first Barton women's athlete to qualify for the national finals.
Heckstall was recently named the Women's Track Athlete of the Meet at the 2025 Conference Carolinas Outdoor Championships in April after winning the women's 200-meter dash and finishing runner-up in both the women's 100-meter dash and women's 400-meter relay.
The women's 100-meter dash preliminaries take place on Thursday, May 22, at 6:10 p.m., MDT, with the finals taking place on Saturday, May 24, at 6:40 p.m., MDT.
