FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Barton's
David Szlobodnyik has been named to the 2023 CSCAA Individual Scholar All-American Second Team for the NCAA Division II Men's Swimming. CSCAA is the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America.
Szlobodnyik, a sophomore from Dunaújváros, HUNGARY, is a business administration major who captured three league titles at the 2023 Conference Carolinas Championship this past February in Kingsport, Tenn.: the men's 200-yard butterfly (a league-record 1:49.76), the men's 100-yard butterfly (48.02) and the men's 400-yard freestyle relay (3:02.93), where he swam the first leg.
To be named to the First-Team Scholar All-America by the CSCAA, student-athletes must achieve a minimum GPA of 3.50 and participate in their respective national championship. Second-Team selections also earned a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and met the "B" time standard for the national championship or participated in a diving zone qualification meet.
The CSCAA recognized a total of 2,290 swimmers and divers - 1,270 women and 1,020 men - as Scholar All-Americans for the 2022-23 season.
