Barton's Bartlomiej Swiderski earns 2019-20 CSCAA NCAA Division II All-American honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Barton College's Bartlomiej Swiderski has been named to the 2019-20 CSCAA NCAA Division II Men's Swimming All-American Team.  CSCAA is the College Swimming and Coaches Association of America.  Swiderski is the first All-American in program history.

Swiderski, a freshman from Warsaw, POLAND, earned All-American accolades in both the men's 100-yard and 200-yard backstrokes.  Swiderski qualified to the NCAA Division II Championships last month in both events but the finals were cut short prior to his race due to the pandemic.

Swiderski holds the program marks in both events – the 100-yard backstroke (48.51) and 200-yard backstroke (1:46.59) – and his latter time was 11th-best in the nation going into the championship.

Swiderski led the Bulldogs to their second consecutive Conference Carolinas Men's Swimming Championship in February in Charlotte, N.C., and won three events at the league finals:  the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard and 200-yard backstrokes.

Swiderski, who also owns school records in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:54.58 and 100-yard butterfly (48.77), was named the Conference Carolinas Men's Swimmer of the Week twice this year.

This year's NCAA Division Il All-American selections were made as follows:  in contested events, the top eight finalists were named to the first team while the consolation finalists were named Honorable Mention accolades. In events that were not contested, individual and relay qualifiers selected for the championship were named All-American.
