GREENVILLE, S.C. – Barton College's
Harrison Wierse has been named the 2022-23 Conference Carolinas Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year, league officials announced earlier today.
The Scholar-Athlete awards presented by Hudl are awarded annually to one individual in each Conference Carolinas sponsored sport. The Scholar-Athlete of the Year winners are chosen by the Conference Carolinas Student-Athlete Affairs and Awards Committee.
Wierse, a native of Wilmington, N.C., is currently pursuing his MBA in Strategic Leadership. Wierse was named to the All-Conference Carolinas First Team this year and helped lead the Bulldogs to the 2023 league championship in late April in Greenville, S.C., after earning all-tournament honors with his third-place finish.
Barton also earned a berth in the 2023 NCAA Division II South/Southeast Super Regional Championship in late May in Davie, Fla.
To be considered, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 or higher. In addition, the nominees for the award must have been named all-conference in their sport and also chosen academic all-conference.
The Conference Carolinas Spring Scholar-Athletes of the Year Presented by Hudl represent nine different member institutions.
