GREENVILLE, S.C. – Barton College's
Marcus Boykin and
Donaven Hairston have both garnered 2022-23 All-Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball honors, league officials announced earlier today. Boykin was named to the all-league first team while Hairston picked up second-team accolades.
Boykin, a sophomore guard from Clinton, N.C., leads the team in scoring (21.6 ppg) and rebounding (6.7 rpg) this season in addition to 85 assists and 47 steals. Boykin earned all-conference honors for the second straight year and ranks 10th all-time on Bulldogs' scoring list with 1,141 points in the NCAA Division II era.
Hairston, a junior guard from Atlanta, Ga., ranks second on the team in scoring at 16.7 points per outing this year to go along with a team-leading 48 steals and 58 assists. Hairston also averages 3.6 rebounds per contest.
Barton senior forward
Trevon Spencer (Columbia, N.C.) was named the Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year. Spencer leads the team in blocked shots (51) while averaging 12.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. Spencer ranks third all-time in program history with 142 blocks.
Barton (16-11, 14-6) is the third seed in the 2023 Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Championship and will face sixth-seeded Converse (15-14, 12-8) in the quarterfinal round on Friday night at 8:30 p.m., at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium on the campus of Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C.
