FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Barton men's basketball team (14-15) took care of Shorter (10-17), 93-68, Sunday evening in the first round of the 2026 Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Championship at the Shaw Athletic Center on the campus of Emmanuel University.
Barton, the seventh seed in the tournament, will face sixth-seeded Emmanuel (16-12) in the second round on Monday night starting at 7:00 p.m.

Trey Fields (Clayton, N.C.) led all scorers with 25 points including 18 in the first half as the Bulldogs jumped out to a 53-24 halftime advantage on their way to the easy victory.
Fields hit five of the Bulldogs' 12 three-pointers as Barton host 51 percent (32-of-63) from the floor and held a 42-27 advantage on the boards in the triumph.
Five players reached double figures for the Bulldogs including 16 points from senior forward
Trevur Smalls (Summerville, S.C.) as Barton beat Shorter for the second time this year.
The Hawks, the 12th seed in the conference championship, were paced by Donovan Shangese (Birmingham, Ala.) with 18 points in the losing effort.
