GREENSBORO, N.C. – Barton College's
Kleanza Cathers ended her season and collegiate career at the 2022 NCAA Division II Women's Swimming and Diving Championships Saturday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
Cathers, a senior from Kitimat, British Columbia, CANADA, finished the preliminaries in the women's 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.50 seconds this morning. On Wednesday, Cathers swam the women's 50-yard freestyle preliminaries in 23.68 seconds.
Cathers was the first female swimmer in school history to qualify for nationals. In February, Cathers was named the 2021-22 Conference Carolinas Women's Co-Swimmer of the Year after winning three events: the women's 50-yard freestyle, women's 100-yard backstroke and the women's 100-yard freestyle. Cathers was also part of the women's 200-yard freestyle relay which won the league crown.
Cathers was also named the 2018-19 Conference Carolinas Co-Swimmer of the Year and led the Bulldogs to the league championship in both 2018 and 2021. Queens University of Charlotte won both the men's and women's national championships.
