INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Barton College's Kleanza Cathers will compete in the 2022 NCAA Division II Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, which take place at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C., from Wednesday, March 9, through Saturday, March 12.

Cathers, a senior from Kitimat, British Columbia, CANADA, will compete in the women's 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle events.  The 50-yard race takes place on Wednesday, March 9, while the 100-yard competition is scheduled for Saturday, March 12.

Cathers recently was named the 2021-22 Conference Carolinas Women's Co-Swimmer of the Year after placing first in the women's 50-yard freestyle (league-record 23.40), women's 100-yard backstroke (league-record 57.29) and the women's 100-yard freestyle (51.82).  Cathers was also part of the Bulldogs' conference-winning 200-yard freestyle relay with a league-best time of 1:34.59.

Cathers is the second Barton swimming to qualify for nationals in program history and the first female student-athlete for the Bulldogs.  On the men's side, Bartlomiej Swiderski qualified for the finals in 2020 but the meet was postponed due to the pandemic.
