NEW ORLEANS, La. – Barton College's
Chianti Ghee has been named to the 2021 USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Men's Outdoor Track and Field All-Southeast Region Team. USTFCCCA is the United States Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association.
Ghee, a senior from Fayetteville, N.C., earned all-region honors in the men's hammer throw. Ghee was an All-Conference Carolinas selection in the men's hammer throw in April with a person-best 168'11", good for third place overall.
Ghee, this year's Barton College Men's Track and Field Most Valuable Player, won the men's hammer at the Wendy's Navy Seahawk Invitational on Friday, March 12, in Wilmington, N.C. Ghee was the Bulldogs' top competitor in the hammer, men's shot put, men's javelin and men's discus this year and ranks in top ten in the league in all four events.
Ghee was named the Carolinas Carolinas Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, March 16.
To earn all-region accolades, an athlete must be one of the top-five individuals in their events in their respective region. In addition, each member of a region's top-three relay team was selected for the distinction.
