GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Barton College baseball team totaled seven players on the 2020 All-Conference Carolinas Team. The baseball all-conference team is part of a special process in which Conference Carolinas is honoring its 2020 spring seniors. All of the members of the spring all-conference teams are seniors.
The following Bulldogs earned all-league honors: shortstop JoJo Allen (Clarksville, Tenn.), first baseman and outfielder Noah Almond (Raleigh, N.C.), outfielder Trevor Edior (Los Angeles, Calif.), pitcher Fredrick May (Folsom, Calif.), pitcher Nate McKenrick (Lake City, Pa.), catcher Brayden Olson (Spokane, Wash.) and Colby Shimmel (Windsor, Pa.).
Allen was a 2019 All-Conference Carolinas second-team honoree but was battling injuries this year while Almond was leading the team in batting average (.400), home runs (five) and RBI (21) before the stoppage.
Meanwhile, Edior was hitting .308 with three round-trippers and 12 runs batted in and Olson also hit .308 to go along with two home runs and 16 RBI this spring.
On the mound, May led the team in saves (three) in 2019 while McKenrick was 2-1 with a 3.26 earned run average and 19 strikeouts this year. Shimmel threw a no-hitter last year and totaled six victories, two complete games and 69 strikeouts over the past two seasons.
Barton finished 12-12 on the season but won its last three games including a doubleheader sweep of rival and seventh-ranked Mount Olive on Saturday, March 7, at home.
