Barton men's basketball loses in advantage in 93-87 setback on the road to King (Tenn.)

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Barton men's basketball team (8-13, 6-8) couldn't hold a 12-point halftime advantage in a 93-87 loss to King (Tenn.) (16-5, 10-3) Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas game at the Student Activity Center.

The Tornado's Jordan Floyd (Stone Mountain, Ga.), the league's leading scorer (30.1 ppg), carried the home team to the victory with 42 points as King swept the season series from Barton and won its sixth straight contest.  Floyd also hit eight of the Tornado's 13 treys including the game-winning three-pointer with just under four minutes left for a 78-76 advantage.

Barton was led by junior forward Isaiah Reddish (Durham, N.C.) with 26 points and 14 rebounds while junior forward Blake Burdack (Melbourne, AUSTRALIA) added 16 points in the setback.  Barton held a 44-32 edge at halftime and finished with a 45-31 edge on the boards despite the loss.

Barton senior guard Michael Boykin (Clinton, N.C.) added 14 points and moved into fifth-place on the Bulldogs' all-time scoring list with 1,478 points.  The Bulldogs, however, were hurt by 19 turnovers and hit just three-of-14 three-point attempts.

In the next round of Conference Carolinas games on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., Barton faces rival Mount Olive on the road while King plays Erskine in Due West, S.C.
