Box Score CENTRAL, S.C. – The Barton men's basketball team (6-11, 4-6) fell to Southern Wesleyan (11-7, 7-3) by a 97-87 score Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas contest at Tysinger Gymnasium.
The Warriors – winners of four straight contests – were led by Clenzo Ross (Rock Hill, S.C.) with a game-high 35 points on 11-of-13 shooting as Southern Wesleyan remains tied for first place in the league regular season standings with King (Tenn.) and Emmanuel (Ga.).
Barton junior forward Isaiah Reddish (Durham, N.C.) led the Bulldogs with 26 points while senior guard Michael Boykin (Clinton, N.C.) added 23 points as the visitors hit 29-of-32 (91 percent) free throw attempts in the losing effort. Boykin moved into sixth-place all-time on the scoring list with 1,422 points.
Southern Wesleyan held a 40-31 edge at halftime and stayed ahead of Barton the rest of the way. The Warriors also hit 13 three-pointers on the day including a game-high six treys from Ross. Cameron Holmes (Fort Mill, S.C.) added 17 points for the home team.
In the next round of Conference Carolinas games on Monday afternoon at 4:00 p.m., Barton faces Erskine in Due West, S.C., while Southern Wesleyan hosts Mount Olive.
