Box Score WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's basketball team (22-7) overcame a 14-point, second-half deficit to beat King (15-14) in overtime by a 95-89 score in the quarterfinals of the 2019 Conference Carolinas Championship Tuesday evening at Wilson Gymnasium. The Bulldogs – now armed with an eight-game winning streak – is the third seed in this year's tournament while the Tornado were seeded sixth.
Barton was led by junior forward Isaiah Buck-Lowman (Woodbridge, Va.) and sophomore forward Isaiah Reddish (Durham, N.C.) with 18 points each as the Bulldogs defeated the Tornado for the third time this season. Buck-Lowman was especially big – connecting on all five treys – coming off the bench to provide the Bulldogs with a spark.
King's Justin Frazier (Carson, Calif.) led all scorers with 24 points while Desmond Davis (Tucker, Ga.) added 20 points and six assists but the Tornado couldn't hold a 71-57 lead with 8:52 left in the second half. King also lost despite hitting 14 treys in the contest and shooting 54 percent (31-of-57) from the floor.
Senior guard Matt Woods (Swannanoa, N.C.) added 14 points and hit all seven attempts from the charity stripe for the Bulldogs. In addition, Woods converted the game-winning lay-up that broke an 83-all tie with just under four minutes left in the extra frame. The two-pointer started a 6-0 run for Barton which put the contest away.
Barton will now play second-seeded Belmont Abbey (22-7) in the semifinals of the league championship on Saturday at 4:00 p.m., in Franklin Springs, Ga. The Crusaders defeated No. 7 Limestone (14-15) by an 82-72 score in its quarterfinal contest at home tonight.
