Barton men's basketball can't catch King (Tenn.) in home setback, 98-90

WILSON, N.C. –  For the second straight game, the Barton men's basketball team (4-7, 2-2) fought back from a large deficit but still came up short in a 98-90 setback to King (Tenn.) (7-3, 2-2) Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas game at Wilson Gymnasium.

King's Jordan Floyd (Stone Mountain, Ga.), the league's leading scorer (25.9) entering the contest, finished with a game-high 40 points as the Tornado held on after taking a 22-point lead early in the second half :  60-38 with 18:27 left in the contest.  Floyd also hit 13-of-16 free throws and three of the team's 13 treys.

Barton junior forward Isaiah Reddish (Durham, N.C.) continued his recent scoring surge of late, finishing with a team-high 30 points including 10-of-11 from the charity stripe in the losing effort.  Barton senior forward Isaiah Buck-Lowman (Springfield, Va.) added 15 points and crossed the 1,000-point mark for his collegiate career.  Buck-Lowman now has 1,012 points.

Barton cut the lead to five points at 88-83 with 1:04 left on a lay-up by Reddish but King responded with five consecutive points to ice the win.  Junior guard Michael Boykin (Clinton, N.C.) added 14 points and five Bulldogs scored in double figures despite the loss.

Barton hosts Chowan in a league game on Tuesday beginning at 7:30 p.m., while King faces Emmanuel (Ga.) at Holston View Elementary School on Wednesday starting at Noon in Bristol, Tenn.
