WILSON, N.C. – The Barton College men's and women's basketball teams conclude a brief two-game road trip with a weekend conference matchup against Pfeiffer University on Saturday, February 14 at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. in Misenheimer, N.C.

Lady Bulldogs vs Pfeiffer
After a 70-65 road win over North Greenville University on Wednesday, the Lady Bulldogs (12-12, 11-6) conclude their regular season series with the Falcons looking for their fourth straight win. Barton has risen to fourth in the league with their current win streak and remain in the hunt for postseason play.
The Falcons are 5-17 overall with four of their wins coming in league play. Pfeiffer is currently on a 10-game losing streak dating back to their Jan. 13 meeting with Barton in Wilson.
Barton secured a 66-49 victory over Pfeiffer in the first meeting of the regular season, holding the Falcons to 28.9 percent shooting and forcing 30 turnovers on the defensive end.
The Lady Bulldogs totaled 38 points in the paint, compared to just 18 by the Falcons, while Barton also saw its bench score 37 total points as Pfeiffer scored just 10 reserve points in the contest.
Sophomore Tiffany Webster led all scorers with 15 points and four assists, while senior Kaila Lea followed with 10 points of her own off of the bench.
Freshman Deja Jeanpierre tied her career-high with nine points in 18 minutes of play as fellow freshman Alexis Johnson chipped in eight points and seven rebounds. Senior Brianna Thomas filled up the stat sheet, totaling eight points, a game-high nine rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Pfeiffer averages 61.2 points per game on the offensive end, led by sophomore Meg Pritchard who ranks second in the league with 15.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game and senior Carter Williams who averages 13.2 points per contest.
As a team, the Lady Bulldogs average 65.6 points per game, including a 74.7 points per game average during the current win streak. Barton ranks fourth in scoring defense allowing 63.7 points and ranking third in the conference with 10.1 steals per game.
Lea continues to pace Barton with 12.3 points per game and Thomas averages 10.5 points per game while leading the team with 7.1 rebounds.
Webster is the team's second-leading scorer with 11 points and a team-high 2.8 assists per game, and Dukes has risen her season averages to 9 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
Bulldogs vs Pfeiffer
The Barton men's basketball team (12-12, 8-8) has lost its last five games, including a 79-67 defeat at the hands of North Greenville University on Wednesday.
The Bulldogs now face Pfeiffer (12-10, 8-8) looking to avenge an 82-68 loss to the Falcons on Jan. 13 in Wilson Gymnasium. Pfeiffer has won its last three games including a 76-75 victory over Barber Scotia on Wednesday.
Pfeiffer sophomore guard Mike Smith scored a game-high 23 points, including 10-of-11 shooting from the charity stripe, while Josh Calhoun added 15 points for the Falcons, and Keith Jumper chipped in 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and eight rebounds in the earlier matchup.
In the loss, freshman Danny Shand paced the team with just 13 points, 11 of those coming in the first half. Senior Ryan Canoy contributed 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds, while sophomore Kendall Patterson collected seven boards.
Barton's offense ranks second among Conference Carolinas schools, scoring 83.5 points per game and pulling down a league-high 41.8 rebounds per game. In contrast, the Warriors average 69.5 points on 44.3 percent shooting from the floor while ranking fifth in the league in scoring defense, allowing 68.7 points per contest.
The Bulldog defense will be tasked with stopping the league's second-leading scorer in senior guard AJ Clark who averages 19.2 points per game and shoots 41.2 percent from three-point range.
Smith averages 12.6 points of his own to go along with 2.6 assists, while Calhoun totals 10.9 points 48.2 percent shooting from the floor and a team-high 2.9 assists per contest.
Barton's top scorers are Shand (16.6 points per game, 4.4 assists, 1.4 steals) and junior guard Jake Veasley (15 points per game, 4.3 rebounds, 37.9 three-point percentage), who place fifth and eighth respectively in the individual points per game rankings within the conference.
Junior Dominique Byrd has increased his season averages to 9.8 points and a team-high 6.8 rebounds per game, while senior Ryan Canoy chips in 8.3 points on 48.4 percent shooting from the floor and 5.1 rebounds of his own.
