WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (1-3) splits its two matches Saturday afternoon on the final day of the Bulldogs Invitational at Wilson Gymnasium. 

The Bulldogs fell to Newberry in three sets by scores of 25-23, 25-20 and 25-18 before defeating Elizabeth State, 3-1, for their first victory of the year.  Barton downed the Vikings by scores 20-25, 27-25, 25-19 and 25-22.

The Wolves' Symone Wyatt (Simpsonville, S.C.) finished with 10 kills and Carley Raleigh (Cullowhee, N.C.) neared a double-double – 18 assists and nine digs – as Newberry defeated Barton for the second time in as many days.

Barton was paced by junior outside hitter Bailey McIntyre (Mooresville, N.C.) with 10 kills in addition to eight digs while graduate student setter Paige Bagwell (Kings Mountain, N.C.) added 19 assists in the losing effort.

The Wolves limited the Bulldogs to a 0.059 hitting percentage in the victory to remain unbeaten on the season.

McIntyre tallied a team-high 15 kills to go along with 12 digs for a double-double and sophomore setter Gemma Ines (Raleigh, N.C.) totaled 21 assists and nine digs as the Bulldogs avenged a loss to the Vikings a day earlier to pick up their first win of the year.

Elizabeth City State's Kendall Washington (Aldie, Va.) finished with 16 kills, a match-high, in the losing effort.   

Barton returns to the court on Friday, September 4, to take Virginia State (9:00 a.m.) and Middle Georgia State (3:00 p.m.) at the UNC Pembroke Invitational in Pembroke, N.C.
