WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (8-11, 3-5) fell in a five-setter for the second time in as many days, 3-2 to Belmont Abbey (13-4, 8-1) Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas match at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Crusaders won over the Bulldogs by scores of 25-21, 25-21, 22-25, 18-25 and 15-7 to push their winning streak to three matches and remain in first place in the conference standings.
Belmont Abbey's Zach Puentes (Wellington, Fla.) finished with a team-high 15 kills and Joseph Morris (Bethesda, Md.) added 38 assists and the Crusaders finished with 15 total blocks to complete the season sweep over the Bulldogs.
Barton sophomore outside hitter
Lawson Hink (Brookfield, Wis.) finished with a match-high 17 kills, giving him 44 kills in two matches, while sophomore setter
Sammy DeBilzan (Lexington, Ky.) totaled 41 assists in the setback.
Hink also totaled 13 digs to complete the double-double but the Bulldogs hit just 0.094 for the match in the losing effort.
Barton hits the road to take on Catawba on Tuesday, March 24, beginning at 7:00 p.m., in Salisbury, N.C. Meanwhile, Belmont Abbey hosts league-foe Emmanuel on Wednesday starting at 7:00 p.m.
