SALISBURY, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (8-11) fell to Catawba (8-11) by a 3-0 score Tuesday night at Shuford Arena.
The Indians won over the Bulldogs by scores of 25-18, 25-17 and 25-19 and avenged an earlier loss to Barton two weeks ago on the road.
Catawba's Justin Arrowood (Arlington Heights, Ill.) led the way with 10 kills while Kristian Smith (Zebulon, N.C.) added 25 assists in the victory.
The Indians hit .294 for the contest while limiting the Bulldogs to a 0.074 hitting percentage in the win.
Barton was paced by freshman outside hitter
Miguel Smurl (Bay Area, Calif.) with nine kills and five digs and junior setter
Ian Ford (Columbus, Ohio) with 24 assists in the losing.
The Bulldogs also suffered their third straight setback.
Barton returns home to host Lees-McRae in a Conference Carolinas match on Friday evening starting at 7:00 p.m., at Goodman Gymnasium. Catawba, meanwhile, travels to Newberry, S.C., to take on Newberry on Friday, March 27, starting at 6:00 p.m.
