BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Barton men's lacrosse team (3-5, 2-1) fell to Lees-McRae (5-5, 2-1), 13-9, in a Conference Carolinas contest Friday afternoon at Tate Field.
The Bobcats' Cole Morris (Okotoks, Alberta, CANADA) and Cayden Onagi (Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA) both scored a match-high three goals as Lees-McRae jumped out to a 5-1 lead early in the second quarter and kept the Bulldogs at bay the rest of the way.
A trio of Barton players – junior midfielders
Zander Grimes (Draper, Va.),
Gabe Thompson (Endicott, N.Y.) and
Tim Blanch (Duxbury, Mass.) – scored twice but the visitors suffered their first league loss of the year.
The Bulldogs lost despite holding a 43-34 edge in shots taken while Lees-McRae's Alex Epple (Lititz, Pa.) earned the win in goal after stopping 17 shots on the day.

Luke Woollard (Kent, ENGLAND) suffered the loss despite 10 saves in the contest.
Barton remains on the road to take on Emory & Henry in Emory, Va., on Sunday beginning at 1:00 p.m. Lees-McRae, meanwhile, travels to Tigerville, S.C., to face North Greenville on Wednesday, March 18, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
