NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Barton men's and women's indoor track and field teams totaled six combined first-place finishes Sunday at the Vince Brown Invitational, hosted by Christopher Newport University, at the Freeman Center.
On the women's side, Barton freshman
Juliana Duke (McLeansville, N.C.) won the 200-meter dash (26.44) while sophomore
Shaliah Jones (Greenville, N.C.) took first in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.95 seconds.
Senior
Keiarra Tutt (Bayboro, N.C.), who had the best time in the women's 60-meter dash (7.83) in the preliminaries, took the top spot in the women's 400-meter dash (1:00.31).
In the men's competition, Barton redshirt freshman
Brandon McClary (Salisbury, N.C.) won the 60-meter dash (a school-record 6.82 seconds) while sophomore
Brandon Waller (Cabot, Ark.) placed first in the 400-meter dash (51.51) and took second in the 800-meter run (1:59.20).
Finally, sophomore
Cameron Walker (Thomasville, N.C.) placed first in the men's long jump (22'0") for the Bulldogs.
The Barton indoor track and field teams next compete at the 2026 Conference Carolinas Championships on Sunday, February 22, and Monday, February 23, at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.
