WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (1-5) suffered a five-set loss to Fort Valley State (2-6) in the 2026 home opener Friday night at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Wildcats won by scores of 21-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-19 and 17-15 and rallied from a 2-1 deficit to win the fourth and fifth sets to take the win.
Fort Valley State was led by Isaiah Fedd (Apopka, Fla.) with a match-high 26 kills to go along with 10 digs for a double-double while Taviian Martin (Chandler, Ariz.) added 11 kills as the Wildcats snapped a six-match losing streak.
Barton was led by sophomore outside hitter
Lawson Hink (Brookfield, Wis.) with a team-high 16 kills and freshman outside hitter
Jacob Martinez (Tucson, Ariz.) notched a double-double – 12 kills and 12 digs – in the setback.
Barton also suffered its fifth straight loss despite eight service aces in the contest.
Barton opens Conference Carolinas play on Friday, February 13, against King in Bristol, Tenn., beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Fort Valley State, meanwhile, takes on Mount Olive on Saturday afternoon beginning at Noon in Mount Olive, N.C.
