BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Barton men's volleyball team (2-5, 1-0 CC) opened Conference Carolinas play on Friday afternoon with a 3-0 sweep of King (2-4, 0-1) at the Student Center Complex.
The Bulldogs won by scores of 25-21, 25-21 and 25-21 and snapped a five-match losing streak in the process.
Barton was led by sophomore outside hitter
Lawson Hink (Brookfield, Wis.) with nine kills and seven digs while sophomore setter
Sammy DeBilzan (Lexington, Ky.) added 22 assists in the victory.
King was paced by Alessandro Fermani (Civitanova Marche, ITALY) with eight kills and Joao Pedro Ribeiro (São Paulo, BRAZIL) with 20 assists in the setback.
Barton limited King to a -0.020 hitting percentage and overcame 19 service errors to take the win.
Barton faces Lees-McRae on Saturday morning beginning at 10:00 a.m., in a league contest in Banner Elk, N.C. Meanwhile, King hosts conference-foe Mount Olive Saturday morning starting at 10:30 a.m.
