WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's lacrosse team (1-2) picked up its first victory of the season, 2-1 over Catawba (2-1) Saturday afternoon at Electric Supply Company Field and Truist Stadium.
Barton sophomore
Berghan Balparda (Melbourne, Fla.) and freshman midfielder
Gabbi Forry (Southlake, Texas) both scored twice as the Bulldogs rallied from an early two-goal deficit to earn the win.
Balarpda scored the game-winner at the 3:09 mark of the third period to break a four-all tie while both Balparda and Forry added an assist for three total points each.
Catawba's Abby Shuren (East Patchogue, N.Y.) scored twice for the visitors in the losing effort.
Barton held a 22-16 advantage in shots taken while freshman goalkeeper
Alexandra Ashton (Chantilly, Va.) earned the win after stopping eight shots. Catawba's goalkeeper, Ashlea Nieland (Matthews, N.C.), made eight saves as well but took the loss.
Barton next hosts Savannah College of Art & Design on Saturday, February 28, at 11:00 a.m., while Catawba hosts Shorter next Saturday as well beginning at Noon.
