BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Barton men's volleyball team (2-6, 1-1) suffered its first Conference Carolinas setback of the season, 3-1 to Lees-McRae (4-7, 1-1) Saturday morning at Williams Gymnasium.
The Bobcats beat the Bulldogs by scores of 18-25, 27-25, 25-21 and 25-19.
The Bobcats' Ben Fincham (Canonsburg, Pa.) led the way with a match-high 22 kills while Abdirahman Ahmed (Eden Prairie, Minn.) added 45 assists and Lees-McRae used 10 service aces on its way to the win.
Barton freshman outside hitter
Jacob Martinez (Tucson, Ariz.) led the visitors with 10 kills and nine digs and sophomore setter
Sammy DeBilzan (Lexington, Ky.) totaled 35 assists in the losing effort.
Barton junior middle blocker
Dominik Limberopoulos (Columbus, Ohio) totaled nine of the Bulldogs' 15 blocks despite the setback as well.
Barton remains on the road to take on Emmanuel on Thursday night starting at 7:00 p.m., in Franklin Springs, Ga., in conference action.
Meanwhile, Lees-McRae hosts league-foe Belmont Abbey on Tuesday beginning at 7:00 p.m.
