Barton men’s lacrosse on the short end to Wilmington (Delaware), 11-6

NEWARK, Del. – The Barton men's lacrosse team (1-3) fell to Wilmington (Del.) (2-0) by an 11-6 score Saturday afternoon at the Wildcats Athletic Complex.

Wilmington's Andrew Dzubak (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) scored a game-high five goals and Ian Betts (Camden, Del.) added three scores as the home team reeled off eight straight goals for an 11-2 advantage early in the third stanza to remain unbeaten on the season.

Barton sophomore attacker Logan McGrath (Stafford, Va.) and senior attacker Nick Nelson (Wilmington, N.C.) both scored twice as the Bulldogs tried to rally by scoring the final four goals but the deficit was too great to overcome.

The shots were 35-all while the Wildcats held a 29-24 edge in ground balls and Daniel Flynn (New York, N.Y.) stopped 13 shots in goal to earn the win.

Barton graduate student goalkeeper Luke Woollard (Kent, ENGLAND) totaled 15 saves despite the loss.

Barton returns home to take on Catawba on Saturday, February 21, at 4:00 p.m., inside Truist Stadium and Electric Supply Company Field.

Wilmington, meanwhile, remains at home to take on Mercy next Saturday as well beginning at 1:00 p.m.
