WILSON, N.C. - The Barton football team (1-5, 0-2) was shut out by Ferrum (1-4, 1-1), 21-0, in a Conference Carolinas contest at a wet Truist Stadium and Electric Supply Company Field.
Ferrum's quarterback, Eli Foutz (Rocky Mount, Va.), rushed for a pair of one-yard scoring runs in the first half and the Panthers finished with 277 yards on the ground as the visitors picked up their first win on the year.
Ferrum's Jycen Anciso (Cornelius, N.C.) finished with 128 yards rushing including a five-yard touchdown on the ground on the game's opening drive as all 21 points in the contest were scored before intermission.
Ferrum held a 370-244 advantage in total yards and Barton was held without an offensive touchdown for the third consecutive game.
On defense, Barton junior linebackers
Cameron Royal (Clayton, N.C.) and
Conner Baker (Rocky Mount, N.C.) both totaled eight tackles in the setback.
Barton does not play again until Saturday, October 17, when the Bulldogs hosts UNC Pembroke beginning at 4:00 p.m.
Ferrum, meanwhile, travels to Rome, Ga., to take on Shorter next Saturday beginning at Noon.
