ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Barton men's volleyball team (1-3) fell to Maryville (Mo.) (1-5), 3-1, Friday evening at Moloney Arena.
The Saints won over the Bulldogs by scores of 25-17, 25-22 and 25-17 and earned their first victory of the year.
Maryville was led by Makai Scott (Granbury, Texas) with 18 kills, a match-high, while Jake Usher (Allen, Texas) added a double-double – 30 assists and 18 digs – in the triumph.
The Saints hit .310 for the contest while limiting the visitors to a .103 hitting percentage.
Barton was led by sophomore outside hitter
Lawson Hink (Brookfield, Wisc.) with 11 kills and sophomore setter
Sammy DeBilzan (Lexington, Ky.) with 12 assists in the setback. The Bulldogs, however, suffered their third consecutive loss.
Barton travels back to Chicago, Ill., to take on Roosevelt for the second time in three days on Saturday evening beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Maryville, meanwhile, plays Missouri Baptist on the road Tuesday evening, February 3, beginning at 8:00 p.m.
