WILSON, N.C. – The Barton men's basketball team (8-12, 6-6) fell to UNC Pembroke (13-6, 10-1), 85-70, Wednesday evening in a Conference Carolinas game at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Braves' Mahmoud Bangura (Lorton, Va.) and Nygell Verdier (Charlotte, N.C.) each scored 26 points to lead the visitors to their seventh straight triumph and complete the season sweep of the Bulldogs.
Barton placed four players in double figures – led by junior guard
Jaylen Faber (Columbia, S.C.) with 15 points and four treys – but the Bulldogs saw their three-game winning streak come to an end.
The Braves held a 39-38 edge at halftime then broke the contest open in the second half after pushing their advantage to as much as 20 points: 79-59 with 5:14 remaining in the contest.
UNC Pembroke shot 56 percent (27-of-48) from the field and found itself at the charity stripe 42 times, making 26 shots from the free throw line (62 percent).

Trey Fields (Clayton, N.C.) tallied a double-double – 13 points and 10 rebounds - in the setback.
Barton remains at home to take on Ferrum in a conference game on Friday beginning at 7:00 p.m. UNC Pembroke, meanwhile, hits the road to take on North Greenville on Saturday afternoon beginning at 4:00 p.m., in Tigerville, S.C.
