WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (2-1) suffered its first loss of the season in straight sets to Newberry (3-0) Saturday evening in the sixth and final contest of the 2025 Bulldog Invitational.
The Wolves won over the Bulldogs by scores of 25-21, 25-22 and 26-24 to remain unbeaten on the season.
Newberry was led by Anna Schneider (Simpsonville, S.C.) with 14 kills while Annie Dill (Jacksonville, Fla.) added 20 assists and nine digs in the victory.
Barton sophomore outside hitter
Bailey McIntyre (Mooresville, N.C.) finished with a team-high 10 kills while junior setter
Paige Bagwell (Kings Mountain, N.C.) added a double-double – 24 assists and 10 digs – in the setback.
Barton hits the road to take on Davis & Elkins in the Cavalier Classic on the campus of UVA Wise on Friday starting at 4:00 p.m.
Newberry faces Ashland in the Flager Invitational on Friday, September 12, at 3:00 p.m., in Saint Augustine, Fla.
