WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's field hockey team made history with its first-ever match in program history Saturday morning against Converse at Electric Supply Company Field and Truist Stadium.
The Bulldogs fell to the Valkyries, 8-0, in a South Atlantic Conference contest but the highlight of the match for the Bulldogs came pre-game when Barton's President, Dr. Doug Searcy, was on hand for a special ceremony to highlight this moment.
Converse was led by Amparo Figueroa (Santa Rosa, ARGENTINA) with four goals while Barton junior
Gracyn Arruda (Richmond, Va.) make seven saves in goal for the home team.
The Valkyries held a 24-3 edge in shots taken in the triumph while Alina Puentes (King George, Va.) earned the victory for the visitors.
Barton remains at home to take on Randolph-Macon Wednesday, September 10, at 6:30 p.m., while Converse faces Coker on Sunday in Hartsville, S.C., starting at 2:00 p.m.
