WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (5-8, 2-4) made it two victories in a row after fending off Chowan (2-15, 1-5), 3-2, in a Conference Carolinas thriller Tuesday evening at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs won over the Hawks by scores of 25-21, 25-22, 21-25, 22-25 and 15-9.
Barton was led by senior outside hitter
Lexi Wasil (Prescott, Ariz.) and junior outside hitter
Mattie Wells (Elkin, N.C.) with 19 and 17 kills, respectively.
Wasil added 17 kills for a double-double while junior setter
Paige Bagwell (Kings Mountain, N.C.) tallied a monster double-double of her own – 54 assists and 19 digs – as the Bulldogs overcame 15 service errors to take the win.
Chowan's Rosa Lynn Collier (Goodyear, Ariz.) finished with 13 kills and Diana Rodriguez (Tijuana, MEXICO) totaled a match-high 41 assists but the Hawks suffered their fourth consecutive loss.
Barton remains at home to take on league-foe Shorter on Friday evening starting at 6:00 p.m., while Chowan hosts Young Harris on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m., as well.
