WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (5-9, 2-5) suffered a 3-1 loss to Shorter (7-5, 6-1) in a Conference Carolinas match Friday evening at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Hawks won over the Bulldogs by scores of 17-25, 25-23, 25-14 and 25-22 on their way to their fifth straight triumph.
Shorter was led by Victoria Sparks (Bardstown, Ky.) with 14 kills and 15 digs for a double-double while Helena Kelly (Jefferson, Ga.) added 22 assists in the victory.

Mattie Wells (Elkin, N.C.) finished with a match-high 15 kills and junior setter
Paige Bagwell (Kings Mountain, N.C.) tallied a double-double herself – 31 assists and 10 digs – and the Bulldogs totaled 10 service aces despite the loss.
Barton looks to bounce back on Saturday at 11:00 a.m., when the Bulldogs host Emmanuel in a conference contest.
Meanwhile, Shorter takes on Chowan in a league match Saturday at Noon in Murfreesboro, N.C.
