FERRUM, Va. – The Barton women's volleyball team (4-8, 1-4) snapped a seven-match losing streak and picked up its first Conference Carolinas victory of the year with a 3-0 victory over Ferrum (2-8, 0-6) Saturday afternoon at Swartz Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs won over the Panthers by scores of 25-16, 25-16 and 25-23 and sent Ferrum to its seventh straight setback.
Barton was led by senior outside hitter
Lexi Wasil (Prescott, Ariz.) with 10 kills while junior setter
Paige Bagwell (Kings Mountain, N.C.) added 27 assists as the Bulldogs limited the Panthers to a 0.010 hitting percentage in the victory.
The Bulldogs also got nine kills from junior outside hitter
Mattie Wells (Elkin, N.C.) and sophomore outside hitter
Bailey McIntyre (Mooresville, N.C.) while McIntyre neared a double-double with 14 digs.
Ferrum's Makayla Rumley (Bassett, Va.) led the home team with nine kills in the losing effort.
Barton returns home to host Chowan in a conference contest at Wilson Gymnasium on Tuesday beginning at 6:00 p.m. Ferrum, meanwhile, hosts Mount Olive on Tuesday night starting at 6:30 p.m.
