BELMONT, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (3-8, 0-4) took Belmont Abbey (7-4, 3-1) to the limit but fell in five sets, 3-2, Friday evening in a Conference Carolinas contest at the Wheeler Center.
The Crusaders, with back-to-back triumphs, beat the Bulldogs by scores of 23-25, 25-22, 25-15, 17-25 and 15-8.
Belmont Abbey was led by Katie Brookins (Simpsonville, S.C.) with 17 kills while Emman Youngblood (Fletcher, N.C.) notched a double-double – 49 assists and 14 digs – in the victory.

Lexi Wasil (Prescott, Ariz.) totaled a match-high 20 kills to go along with 12 digs for a double-double and sophomore outside hitter
Bailey McIntyre (Mooresville, N.C.) added 15 kills in the losing effort.
The Bulldogs, however, suffered their seventh straight defeat.
Barton looks to bounce back on Saturday at 12:30 p.m., when the Bulldogs travel to Ferrum, Va., to take on Ferrum in a league match.
Belmont Abbey, meanwhile, hosts North Greenville Saturday at 2:00 p.m., in a conference contest.
