WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (3-7) fell to Shaw (2-2) in four sets, 3-1, Tuesday evening at Wilson Gymnasium.
The Lady Bears bounced back after falling in the first set and won over the Bulldogs by scores of 17-25, 25-21, 25-19 and 25-6.
Shaw was led by MaKayla Brown (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Leana Gould (Annapolis, Md.) with 10 kills while Jakya Moore (Raleigh, N.C.) tallied 25 assists, eight digs and six kills in the victory.
Barton sophomore outside hitter
Bailey McIntyre (Mooresville, N.C.) totaled 10 kills and senior outside hitter
Lexi Wasil (Prescott, Ariz.) added nine kills but the Bulldogs hit just 0.070 for the match and suffered their sixth straight setback.
Barton returns to Conference Carolinas play on Friday evening beginning at 6:00 p.m., against Belmont Abbey in Belmont, N.C.
Shaw hosts Johnson C. Smith in the CIAA opener on Thursday beginning at 7:00 p.m.
