WILSON, N.C. – The Barton field hockey team (0-5, 0-4) suffered a 2-0 loss to Lincoln Memorial (3-4, 1-1) Sunday afternoon at Electric Supply Company Field and Truist Stadium.
The Lady Railsplitters scored both goals in the fourth period to break a scoreless tie courtesy of Jimena Loutsalot (Tandil, ARGENTINA) and Lainey Hockersmith (Louisville, Ky.).
Lincoln Memorial held a 22-5 advantage in shots taken while Cayla Wiggins (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) earned the shutout victory in goal after stopping a pair of shots.
Barton lost despite the play of junior goalkeeper
Gracyn Arruda (Richmond, Va.). Arruda stopped 11 shots on the day.
Barton continues to search for its first victory and first goal of the season. The Bulldogs are in their first season as an intercollegiate program.
Barton turns around to host Belmont Abbey in a South Atlantic Conference match on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., while Lincoln Memorial hosts Lander on Tuesday, September 30, at 11:00 a.m.
