DUE WEST, S.C. – The Barton women's volleyball team (3-6, 0-3) lost to Erskine (2-8, 1-2) by a 3-1 score Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas match at the Belk Arena.
The Flying Fleet won over the Bulldogs by scores of 25-18, 20-25, 25-21 and 25-21 and snapped a five-match losing streak in the process.
Erskine was led by Becca Yohe (Summerville, S.C.) with 18 kills while Meghan DeWalt (Indian Land, S.C.) added a double-double – 30 assists and 11 digs – in the victory.
Barton sophomore outside hitter
Bailey McIntyre (Mooresville, N.C.) finished with a team-high 12 kills and junior setter
Paige Bagwell (Kings Mountain, N.C.) tallied a double-double as well – 15 assists and 12 digs – in the setback.
McIntyre was the second of three Bulldogs to notch a double-double with 11 digs but Barton hit just .110 for the match in suffering its fifth straight loss.
Barton returns home to take on Shaw in a non-conference affair Tuesday beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Erskine travels to Rome, Ga., to take on Shorter in a league match on Wednesday starting at 6:00 p.m.
