WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's soccer team (2-3, 1-1) picked up its first Conference Carolinas victory of the year with a 1-0 triumph over Shorter (1-4, 0-3) Saturday morning at the Bulldogs Athletic Complex.

Josephine Curran (Williamstown, N.J.) scored the lone goal of the match – the first goal of her collegiate career – in the 56th minute in the triumph.
Barton held a commanding 24-5 advantage in shots taken while freshman goalkeeper
Lily Diedrich (Severna Park, Md.) earned the shutout victory.
Diedrich made a pair of saves while tallying her second shutout of the year.
Shorter was able to stay in the match thanks to the play of goalkeeper Karis Eccleston (Roswell, Ga.). Eccleston made 12 saves despite taking the loss.
Barton remains at home to take on UNC Pembroke in a key conference contest Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m., while Shorter travels to Central, S.C., to face Southern Wesleyan starting at 1:00 p.m.
