BELMONT, N.C. – The Barton field hockey team (0-4, 0-3) fell to Belmont Abbey (2-3, 2-1), 9-0, in a South Atlantic Conference match at Alumni Field.
The Crusaders, who outshot the Bulldogs by a 34-0 count, were led by Hailey Leatherman (Pine Beach, N.J.) and Margaret Malcolm (Spotsylvania, Vai.) with two goals each.
Barton freshman goalkeeper
Bryanna Snowball (Windsor, N.Y.) did make 14 saves in the losing effort.
The Bulldogs, however, are still looking to find the back of the net for the first time this year.
Barton, still searching for its first victory of the season as well, will host league-foe Lincoln Memorial Sunday afternoon at Truist Stadium and Electric Supply Company Field.
Belmont Abbey, meanwhile, travels to Hartsville, S.C., to take on Coker on Wednesday, September 24, beginning at 4:00 p.m., in a conference contest.
