MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Barton women's soccer team (1-3, 0-1) fell to Chowan (1-3, 1-1), 2-0, in the team's Conference Carolinas opener Tuesday evening at the Hawks Athletic Complex.
The Hawks scored both goals in the second half courtesy of Riley Donnelly (Jacksonville, N.C.) and Laura Hulme (Huddersfield, ENGLAND) on a penalty kick with just under two minutes remaining in the contest.
Barton did hold a 12-11 advantage in shots taken while Chowan's goalkeeper, Kylee Smith (Virginia Beach, Va.), earned the shutout victory in goal after stopping six shots.

Lily Diedrich (Severna Park, Md.) suffered the loss. Diedrich totaled three saves on the day.
Barton returns home to host Shorter in a conference contest Saturday at Noon
Meanwhile, Chowan takes on Young Harris on Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m., in Young Harris, Ga.
