WILSON, N.C. – The Barton women's soccer team (0-2) fell to Wingate (2-1) by a 3-0 score Wednesday evening in the 2025 home opener at the Bulldogs Athletic Complex.
The visitors scored just 1:18 into the match courtesy of Ellie Polk (Fairfax, Va.) and never looked back in the triumph.
Wingate also received goals from Sydnee Barndt (Eagle River, Alaska) and Matilda Boyle (Perth, AUSTRALIA) to round out the scoring.
Wingate also held a 21-5 advantage in shots taken while Sydney Schnarr (Olathe, Kan.) earned the victory in goal after stopping a pair of shots.

Lily Diedrich (Severna Park, Md.) suffered the loss despite making seven saves.
Barton remains at home to host Virginia State on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. Wingate, meanwhile, hosts Lander on Saturday afternoon starting at 2:00 p.m.
